The detectives are assigned to the Administrative Division. The unit is compromised of one Captain, one Detective Sergeant, three Detectives, and one Investigative Technician.
Detectives conduct follow-up on both felony and misdemeanor crimes, respond to and process crime scenes, and write the majority of the departments search warrants.
The detective division is responsible for maintaining the chain-of-custody on all held property and evidence. The Detective Sergeant ensures that all property is properly collected, stored, and in certain cases processed at the Wyoming State Crime lab for forensic examination.
Children are often caught up in adult crimes and at times may fall through the cracks. The detectives work closely with Department of Family Services, both State and Tribal, and the School Resource Officers, to ensure the children of our community don’t fall victim to the system.
