The police department employs a full-time Animal Control Officer whose duties include catching stray dogs, trapping feral animals, and working directly with the local animal shelter to reunite lost pets with their families.
Dogs who reside within the city limits are required to be licensed. Licenses can be purchased at the animal adoption center (PAWS) located at 515 S. Smith Road, (307) 857-6002 or through local veterinary offices. An altered dog license costs $15 and is valid for three years. Non-altered animal licenses cost $50 for three years.
Please contact the city animal control officer, Becki Weber, at (307) 856-4891 or by using the citizen request center.
