The City of Riverton is a home rule city. The Mayor and Council appoint a professional manager to administer the daily operations of the City. Through a professional staff, the administrator ensures the provisions of services and enforces the policies adopted by the elected Mayor and Council. The administrator is selected by the council on the basis of education, training, and experience.
Anthony “Tony” Tolstedt was appointed by the Governing Body as Riverton’s City Administrator on November 1, 2017. Previously, Tony was the City Administrator of Douglas Wyoming where he has served from 2012 – 2017; the City Administrator of Broken Bow, NE; and the Assistant to the City Manager in Alliance, NE where he also spent time as the airport manager.
Tony attended high school in Sheridan, WY and entered the United States Marine Corps upon graduation. He later attended Regis University on a Forensics Scholarship where he earned his B.A.. He received his M.P.A. from the University of Colorado and recently completed a graduate program at the University of Denver in Strategic Human Resources Management. Tony also received his ICMA Credentialed Manager certification in 2015.
Tony is married to Sara Tolstedt and the couple have two children (7 & 9).
