SITE
PLAN Minimum Scale: 1" = 20'-0" or 1/16" =
1'-0" (1:250 or 1:200) •Building
or addition placement on lot or site, relative to property
lines and any existing
buildings or structures
•Lot dimensions, building setback dimensions, driveways,
adjacent streets and alleys (if applicable)
•Setback dimensions are measured from property lines to
exterior building line
•Address (if known) and complete legal description of
property, such as Lot #, Block #, and Subdivision
•Locations and heights of exterior steps, terraces, porches,
fences, decks, planters and retaining walls
•Locations and dimensions of easements (if any exist--check
approved subdivision plans at Engineering Dept.)
• Size, location, material of water and sewer service lines
or other underground utilities, and water meters
• Off-street parking areas and surface materials
• Show existing and proposed topographic contours. The
finished ground surface of the site must provide surface
drainage away from the structure and toward a public
way or other approved drainage area
• Elevation of the foundation and the highest site corner, relative to the top of curb, must be 12 inches + 2% of the horizontal distance to the gutter.
FLOOR
PLANS Minimum Scale: 1/4" = 1'0" (1:50)
•Fully
dimensioned floor plan of each floor and basement,
including all attached porches,
garages, carports, decks,
or other areas. Label the use of each room or space.
•Foundation plan, including the widths of foundation walls,
and the sizes and locations of isolated footings (MUST
BE STAMPED BY REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER –UNLESS
STANDARD FOUNDATION APPLIES)
•Structural framing information: orientation, size, material
and spacing of all floor, wall, ceiling and roof structural
members, including; joists, girders, columns, beams, headers,
engineered trusses (MUST BE STAMPED), wood I-joists, posts,
etc.
•Location of all permanent walls and partitions with door,
attic & under floor access, and window openings. Show
window and door sizes, and all directions of door swings.
Label special details, such as escape windows & rated
doors.
•Location and size of all permanently installed equipment
such as cabinets, countertops, closets, sinks, bathtubs,
toilets, water heater, furnace, stove, wet bar, locations
for clothes washers and dryers, etc.
•Locations of electrical fixtures and equipment such as
panels, smoke detectors, exhaust fans, and main disconnect.
Label special electrical outlets such as GFCI and weatherproof.
Label size of electrical service.
ELEVATIONS
Minimum Scale: 1/4" = 1'-0" (1:50)
•Front,
rear, and side elevations showing the exterior appearance
of building from the
ground to top of the roof
•Show finished grade lines at buildings, height of finish
floor, top of foundation, etc.
•Location and size of windows, doors, attic vents, and
chimneys. Provide the sizes of windows and doors, if
the information is not provided on the floor plans or on the
window and door schedules
DETAILS & SECTIONS Minimum Scale: 3/8" = 1'0" (1:30)
•Exterior
wall section showing all details of construction from
the footing to the highest
point on the roof. Provide
a different section for each different type of wall construction.
Provide the size and material for all components, such
as foundation, wall floor and attic insulation, wall studs,
dampproofing, exterior wall finish, roof covering, etc.
•Section through any portion of the building where rooms
are situated at various levels or where finished attic
space is proposed (1/4" = 1'-0: (1:50) scale may be
used)
•Section through stairways and landings. Show framing,
headroom clearance, riser and tread sizes
•Sections and details of all critical construction elements,
unique features, or special structural items
•Manufacturers shop drawings for engineered roof trusses
and other engineered components
•Details of any fire-resistive construction showing compliance
with approved or listed assemblies

Plans may have to be prepared by a Wyoming licensed architect
or engineer when required by the Building Official
Addition Projects Must Include:
Complete site plan drawn to scale
Floor plan with the existing building and the addition (show
existing spaces adjacent to addition)
At least one elevation showing how the addition will connect
to existing building
Details of any special construction elements
Size, material & spacing of all framing members (floor
joists, rafters, studs, etc.)
Minimum Plans for a Single Family Home:
A dimensioned site plan drawn to scale
Footing and foundation plan, by Engineer
Dimensioned floor plans for each floor
At least one exterior elevation of building
At least one exterior wall section showing the wall from
the footing to the rooftop
Size, material & spacing of all framing members (floor
joists, rafters, studs, etc.)
Other drawings necessary to clearly show the nature of
work & code
compliance
Please note that these are only general guidelines. All
plans must provide enough detail to show compliance with
all of the applicable building codes as adopted and amended
by the City of Riverton.
If your plans are incomplete or difficult to understand,
we will request additional information or a complete resubmittal.
If this occurs, your building permit will be delayed.
